BE KIND REWIND [2008] review

December 21, 2008 · Print This Article

I very rarely find movies boring as I am pretty careful about what I watch, as I don’t have infinite time to watch movies.  So when I waste time watching something like BE KIND REWIND, it feels like a missed opportunity to actually see something good.

I’m a big fan of Mos Def’s music, but he seemed to be half asleep in this movie.  Usually I can’t stand Jack Black because he’s too manic, but even he is toned way down to an almost dull level.  The whole movie feels fake and half-baked.  The premise and execution are hardly feature film level.  Like its movies inside a movie, BE KIND REWIND itself felt like it was made by amateurs.

If you do decide to watch this movie, make sure are not even remotely sleepy.

    Thanks!

….yeah, I was looking for a light, feel-good kind of movie, and mistakingly thought it was recommended to me by a friend. And I like Mos Def, so thought that would help, but it didn’t.

Added you on Flickr as well.

Yeah, I saw this on a plane last year and it was just awful. I was actually surprised you would watch it or review it.

Well, I review every movie I watch, be it good or bad. It’s more for my own record so I can remember which movies I’ve seen and how I felt about them at the time. I’m trying to stay on an at least 50 movie a year viewing pace.
