35 years and a new career

It is rather uncanny how my 35th birthday and my first real job occurred on almost the same day. How can one avoid having a real job for 35 years and still travel the world and own more electronics at once than most people have their entire lives? Well, a person in the above photo has commented on more than one occasion I should write a book about that. My average waking time for my adult life I would estimate at 10:15am. My average bedtime I would estimate at 1:45am. All this has suddenly changed.
We had my 35th birthday party at our apartment in St. Petersburg, which doubled as a house warming for the apartment at long last. Joel, Steve, Anna, Terry & Beth all made the drive over from the mainland.

The weather was unusually dry and breezy, and almost cool, if that’s possible for Florida in August. This allowed us to go on a group walking of Kiki around the block in comfort, and then hangout in our common backyard area along the bayou. After that it was inside for cake that Aya baked herself. I got great presents from everyone, which I turned into my fifth pair of Salomon trail running shoes.
Two days later I started my career as a middle school math teacher. I can say I started my career as a teacher despite spending the past nine years teaching because what I am doing now is so entirely different, some marker must be made. I am now counted on to be a true professional. I am now responsible for a total of 110 students. I even tuck my shirt in on most days!

Thanks W! Those lucky kids have already crunched thousands of math problems by hand (in total) in just the first 4 days of school!
