Akasaka-mitsuke Doctor’s Clinic Group Lesson Students

I have a very long history with Dr. Yashido’s clinic in Akasaka-mitsuke.  He was one of my very first students when I first started my private teaching business in Tokyo back in September of 2003.  Back then I taught him and his son at their apartment, and then ate dinner with his family!  On a separate night I taught his clinic staff.  Nowadays, I teach both him and his clinic staff on the same night at the clinic.  

The doctor always gets good snacks from his patients which I in turn always get to sample before the lessons!  Besides that, the doctor and his family, in particular his wife Hiroko, have helped me out a lot during my time in Japan.  I have even gone on vacation with them to Noboribetsu, Hokkaido!

The first thing I do when I arrive at the clinic is check my weight.  We have records of my weight on a weekly basis for the past 4+ years!  This is a very valuable and interesting record to have.  Then I eat some snacks (always after checking my weight of course!) and eventually start teaching English to the clinic staff once they are finished their work.  After that hour of teaching, I next teach the doctor himself in his office area for another hour.  

After all this time, it has long since stopped feeling like teacher and students, but much more like family and friends meeting once a week for a chat.  We have that much history together.
